Daycare playcare do they care?

on January 18, 2012

Now you could be like me, looking for a nice daycare for your little one or a play area where they can have fun with the kids while you can attend to other errands.

I do have a few experiences with some. I’ll let you in on my favorite and then give you some which I was not so happy about but the names are changed.

1. Dave’s Funhouse – It will always be my favorite. There is always someone at the registration area. They’re courteous too and pretty patient with the kids. Never had a bad experience with them. You also get to scan your thumbprint so you will the only one who can claim your kid. They got a few staff scattered around the area. Stairs have foams, just some plastic stuff, all pretty safe. One watches the slide and the other two or three roams around. They got the cutest little shops, colorful too so the kids can have endless fun. I always get the unlimited play time for her. One time when my kid said she still didn’t want to go but we needed to. One of the staff took her, got her shoes, sanitized her hands and led her through the gate. The little girl went without question. Of course this was  after the receptionist verified my thumbprint. So I hope I don’t develop Alzheimers one day lest I forget.

2. Little Palace – They charge a bit lower for the unlimited play time. They have a small rectangular area with a lot of little action figures, puzzles, lego. A couple of rocking horse and a little slide. It’s inside a restaurant where you can also rent for birthday parties with costumes kids can rent. Sometimes there’s no one at the table, you just have to write your name on a paper with your signature. It has those square alphabet foams to cover the floor and a cupboard full of toys. So one time I went there but there was a kid wreaking havoc all over the place. Throwing all the toys, trying to push my daughter, removing all the foam. The staff didn’t do anything. They actually weren’t even there. They appear and disappear. A mom and a little boy went came after us. The rowdy little boy literally pushed the new kid onto the floor and stepped on his back before the mom got to him. Wow! Where was the staff they were hiding somewhere in the counter. Leaving us moms to just provide a force field for our kids. I can’t really talk to the boy coz the mother can’t be found. Also anyone can just walk in and grab your kid since as I said, they’re usually missing in action.

3. The Cut and Play shop – A kid’s salon with a little playhouse on the side. Not much but it was okay for just thirty minutes. However they could not afford to put a foam for the whole play area. Required to wear socks but I did not notice that the end of the play are was not covered so my daughter slipped. She did not get hurt but we never went back.

4. Robin Hood Learning Center – I do understand its not a full daycare. It’s a school. It’s cute kids get to play in a classroom set up. They have that service however when the time was up. I came back, my daughter was alone in the play area playing with pink flowers, lego etc. There was someone new at the reception. Never saw her when I dropped my kid off. She just let me take her, she didn’t ask me to sign anything. I could be anyone. Just a bit lax I would think for a preschool charging 70,000 a year. They should do something about that.

So there. What’s your experience?
